Prof. Chunsheng Han's lab is currently interested in two directions in the area of spermatogenesis research:
1. To study how the unique identities of spermatogenic cells are established, maintained, and dynamically changed through gene expression that is transcriptionally and post-transcriptionally regulated. Particularly, we are interested in understanding how the unique epigenome of spermatogenic cells direct the transcription of genes.
2. To develop in vitro methods for the formation, proliferation, and differentiation of SSCs. With these in vitro procedures, the molecular mechanisms of spermatogenesis can be investigated more conveniently and novel methods for animal transgenesis and treatments of male infertility and birth defects could be developed.
